First of all, we at TeamBuilder wish all of you a very happy holiday season. The Hurme compound had a great time with family and friends opening presents, eating some great food and catching up on a fantastic year.

Before we launch in to the next year, it’s important to look back at where we’ve been. Zillow has produced a great report showing new construction trends. Here are a few key takeaways:

• A single-family, detached home is Hands Down the most desired.  I agree.
• One third of new construction buyers own pets.  I have a cat, so I get it.
• Most bought a SFD home in a larger, planned community.

I can’t imagine these trends changing much over the next year, so we should all plan accordingly. If you’re seeing a different trend in your market please let me know. We would love to hear what you’re seeing and we hope you all have a happy New Year.

Pantone has given us their “Color of the Year” for 2018 (Hurme says, “It’s their best in years!” J). I’ve seen last year’s color “Greenery” out and about in a few different model homes, but I think 2018’s holds more potential for designers.

Ultra Violet is a tribute to a few of the music legends we’ve recently lost in Prince and David Bowie. For added local interest, Jimi Hendrix was also known for his use of these shades. It’s a bold palette they are presenting, but it’s also very cool. Let’s start working it in.
